Emancipation Proclamation, November 4, 2008 Print E-mail

Despite the familiar slogan, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste, countless minds are being wasted in our nation's public schools. This leads to wasted lives, destroyed families, devastated cities and a society in decline.  Incredibly, those who suffer most from this travesty are the ones who enthusiastically support this warped system of government financially coercing parents to send their children to government run schools.  Just as slavery over the body is mastery of one person over another, so too is slavery of the mind. Individual liberty requires freedom from domination by other individuals or government agencies. True freedom, as recognized by all free countries, and the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, requires parental choice in education. A free government may not usurp the right of parents to raise their children. This is the greatest government sanctioned violation of civil rights in today's America! Emancipation from this slavery of the mind would bring the kind of change most of us desire. Every mom and dad yearns for the opportunity to provide their children with the best education available. This is truly possible - if we vote for candidates who support school choice as a civil right - just as we have federal legislation mandating equal opportunity in housing, employment, travel and entertainment. Voters ought to know that Senator Barack Obama and his supporters oppose this right, while Senator John McCain and his supporters favor school choice as a civil right.
